Why Do We Need Using HTTPS?

http-or-https

So many talks about security on the Internet can be heard lately. Among them is secure protocol for websites known as HTTPS. So why we need HTTPS?

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is the secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between user browser and the website it is connected to. When you see HTTPS protocol in a website link it means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted.

HTTPS is always a good news for users. But what about webmasters?

Google suggests that you should always use HTTPS even if you’re not providing security sensitive data transfer. Unsecured connection is under risk at any part on its way from your website to end user: images, cookies, scripts, HTML..

HTTPS will help you protecting the integrity of your website from malicious attackers including malware and unauthorized advertisements. It will ensure that all website data will not be modified without your authorization. HTTPS will protect privacy and security of your users. It will ensure only users’ browser and the server can decrypt the data transferred.

Since security is one of the top priorities for Google no wonder that switching from HTTP to HTTPS can add to website ranking. Something tells that effect from using HTTPS on your websites will only be growing with time.
